Face-to-face fundraising

Have you met our friendly fundraisers gathering donations for Sightsavers? Find out more about them, what they’re doing and where your money goes.

Sightsavers’ face-to-face fundraising enables us to talk to people in person about our vital work, so we can explain why their donations are so valued.

These professional fundraisers ask people to become Sightsavers Ireland supporters by giving a monthly donation via card or direct debit. It’s the first step in building a lasting relationship with people in Ireland who care about our cause.

The face-to-face fundraising campaign is run by professional fundraising agency Trinity Group, which recruits, manages and trains the fundraisers. They then visit homes in Ireland, and they also work in private sites, such as shopping centres.

Our first campaign will begin in Cork from January to February 2024 and Dublin in March 2024, expanding to other areas in Ireland throughout the year.

What to expect when you meet our fundraisers

Our fundraisers will invite you to take part in Sightsavers Ireland’s monthly donation programme. Donations can be set up via credit card or direct debit.

For the safety of our fundraisers, and to ensure donations can be processed securely, we will never ask for or accept cash or cheques.

You’ll be able to recognise our fundraisers by their Sightsavers-branded uniform, lanyard and identification card. They’ll usually be standing beside a Sightsavers-branded podium, and will carry a tablet that contains Sightsavers campaign slides and official pledge forms.

Fundraisers who do not have an ID badge or uniform bearing the Sightsavers logo, or do not carry Sightsavers campaign materials, may be fraudulent. If in doubt, do not give out personal information, make any payments or donations. You can check the list of our fundraisers above, or call Sightsavers on 01 663 7666 to verify their identity.

How does the process work?

1. We take your details

Once you’ve agreed to make a donation to Sightsavers, our fundraisers will enter your information into a secure tablet.

2. You’ll get a message

You'll then receive a text message and welcome email, as well as a small thank-you gift to show our appreciation.

3. We’ll call to confirm

Our agents will call you to confirm your details. The call will be from one of these numbers: 02 1701 1263 or 02 1474 2010.
