Cecilia worried constantly about her son, knowing she didn’t have the money needed to take him to the hospital for treatment.

Cecilia lives with her son Twinde in a low-income rural part of Zimbabwe. For families like hers living in remote areas, it’s difficult to access sight-saving treatments like that needed for Twinde when he was diagnosed with a cataract.

Understandably, Cecilia was very worried about Twinde and how she would help her son get the treatment he urgently needed for his eye. She didn’t know where to turn until she heard about Sightsavers.

Sightsavers works with local partners in Zimbabwe to help improve access to eye care, including identifying children with cataracts and supporting them in accessing treatment, helping mothers like Cecilia get the sight-saving treatment their children need.
