Be inclusive: how to make your work accessible for all

Find out what Sightsavers does, why we champion accessibility and how you can ensure your work can be enjoyed by everyone.

At Sightsavers, we believe in an equal world where no one is left behind.

Inclusion and accessibility are at the heart of our organisation, whether we’re treating eye conditions, distributing medication or supporting people with disabilities to claim their rights. See what we do

We create accessible communications so we can reach as many people as possible through our programmes, advocacy work and fundraising. Everything we produce is guided by our audience’s diverse needs, enabling us to develop inclusive designs that benefit everyone.

Did you know?

It’s estimated that 1.3 billion people around the world have a significant disability. See how Sightsavers is fighting to uphold their rights.

What we’re doing

Why make your work accessible?

The answer is simple: to ensure as many people as possible can access, understand and appreciate what you do. If you don’t consider accessibility, you will exclude some of your audience, meaning your message will not be delivered effectively.

Accessibility starts at the very beginning of the communication process, every time: it should never be an afterthought.

Think about the different needs of your audience, and understand that people process information in different ways. This doesn’t just apply to people with permanent disabilities. Everyone will have different needs at different times and in different circumstances.

By removing barriers for people with disabilities or learning difficulties, you will make the experience better for everyone.
