Entries now open for 2024 Junior Painter of the Year

March 2024

Budding young artists from across Ireland are invited to get creative for Sightsavers’ Junior Painter of the Year.

The annual competition encourages primary school children to create artwork that promotes equality for people with disabilities around the world and demonstrates their understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Schoolchildren will be able to learn about the SDGs with their class via Sightsavers’ award-winning educational website Put Us in the Picture, which explores disability and inclusive education in Africa.

After pupils have completed the online workshop to achieve a certificate, they can draw, paint or colour a picture to showcase their understanding of inclusion. The theme for this year’s entries is ‘We are all global citizens’.

All artists will receive a certificate of participation, with prizes awarded to the schools of the national winners at a special awards ceremony in the summer.

The deadline for entries is 10 April 2024. Find out how to apply via Junior Painter of the Year.
