Sightsavers partners with eco sunglasses brand Sun Amante

May 2024

Sustainable sunglasses brand Sun Amante has teamed up with Sightsavers to help prevent avoidable blindness.

Sun Amante, which means ‘sun lover’ in Spanish, sells handmade prescription and non-prescription sunglasses. The eyewear is made from natural materials such as wood, steel and eco-acetate by skilled artists in Colombia.

From May 2024, Sun Amante is donating 1% of each sale of sunglasses to support Sightsavers’ mission to protect people from avoidable blindness and create a world where everyone can participate equally. The unrestricted funding will help boost Sightsavers’ programmes in Africa and Asia.

Sun Amante’s founder Mark Gooding said: “We’re committed to all aspects of caring for people and the planet, so we’re delighted to be supporting Sightsavers’ work to prevent blindness across global communities. We hope our customers will embrace this partnership as they look to embrace style, sustainability and ethics with their choice of eyewear.”
