Online hub launched to support charities’ safeguarding

Sightsavers has supported the launch of a new digital platform for aid sector organisations to access safeguarding resources and advice.

The Safeguarding Resource and Support Hub (RSH) launched with the aim of supporting organisations in the aid sector to strengthen their safeguarding policy and practice against sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment.

Funded by the UK Department for International Development, the programme brings together a consortium of international partners which will develop the online hub for organisations around the world.

Sightsavers is a key partner that will help to roll out the programme globally, focusing on less resourced civil society organisations based in the global south.

The hub signposts users towards high-quality, accessible safeguarding materials including guidance, tools and research aimed at developing and improving existing practices. The open-access platform also creates opportunities for learning and ideas exchange through discussion forums and webinars.

The first national hub has been piloted in Ethiopia with country-specific resources in local languages, plus a free phone call service offering personalised advice for organisations. The RSH has rolled out national hubs in Ethiopia, Nigeria, South Sudan, the MENA region (Jordan, Syria and Yemen) and in South Asia (Pakistan and Bangladesh) to provide tailored services for smaller, local organisations. These smaller organisations in low to middle income countries are a priority for the project as they often have limited access to relevant safeguarding resources and advice.

Any organisation working in the aid sector is encouraged to access the online hub to share, learn and improve their approaches to safeguarding and become part of a community of best practice. You can also sign up to the newsletter to stay up to date with the hub’s activities.
