Children like Joseph could lose their sight

Help save the sight of a child this winter

Joseph is only 10 years old. But he’s unable to play with his friends or keep up with his school work because he has cataracts.

The cataracts affect his vision, stopping him from seeing the blackboard clearly, while bright sunlight causes him immense pain.

In Tanzania, many families live long distances from hospitals, meaning it can be almost impossible to to get treatment for eye conditions such as this.

But for children like Joseph, cataract surgery can take as little as 45 minutes and can change their lives forever.

That’s why we need you this winter. You could make a huge difference today with a sight-saving gift. Please donate today.

Eliminate blinding diseases

Sightsavers and our partners have already helped to eliminate trachoma in four countries. Working with local volunteers, we provide eye checks and medicines to the communities still at risk from this painful disease.

Restore a child's sight

One-year-old Mobwin's mother noticed white dots in his eyes and took him to hospital, where he was diagnosed with cataracts. A Sightsavers project helped Mobwin receive the life-changing operation he needed.
