Our work in Pakistan

At a glance

Sandwiched between India and Afghanistan, Pakistan is one of the most densely populated countries in the world.

Sightsavers in Pakistan

Sightsavers has been working here since 1985 with the objective of developing eye care for the poorest people in both urban and rural areas, providing preventive services as well as a full range of treatments. We have strong partnerships with local non-governmental organizations, as well as with the Pakistan Government.

In 2005, together with our partners, we worked with the government to produce the first National Plan for the Prevention and Control of Blindness.

Vision for a village

Trachoma is the world's leading cause of preventable blindness. Find out how improved sanitation has led to trachoma being virtually eradicated in the village of Killa Virkan in Pakistan.

Flooding in Pakistan

Sightsavers is working with our partners to provide emergency eye care and relief for flood victims in Pakistan.

A brighter future

Blind from birth, 14-year-old Abdullah never thought he'd get the chance to go to school. But now the future is much brighter thanks to a Sightsavers partner in Pakistan. Read about Abdullah's story here.
